Found this in a nesting box tonight.

The shell is just as hard as a regular egg. Strange!

Wonder if I get a wrinkly omelet tomorrow morning. 😀

Kinda looks like a walnut so maybe your going to have a walmlet? If it’s her first egg it can come out and harden like that. Stress can cause it. Diet can cause it. Some sickness can cause it. If it keeps happening then I would worry about it but if it only occurs once in a blue moon more likely it’s just stress. (having a bad day, light left on too long in the coop at night, got beat up by the rooster to many times and so on)

Well I did have one girl who didn’t come in last night (first time in many months), so maybe that’s the stress. I don’t actually know who laid it. There were 5 eggs in that box.

I’m with you. I have no clue who lays what eggs and I’m not about to spend my time trying to figure it by watching them all day. Being out all night sure would be stressful. If I forget to turn the light out and don’t notice till later in the evening I don’t get any eggs the next day. I keep telling myself I’m going to get a timer for the switch to shut it down after 30 minutes of being on.
what cracks me up is going out there around 9 am on a cold rainy day and seeing most of them still sitting on their roosts. It’s like they decided it was a good day to stay in bed late. I can here them all talking to each other before I open the door. Like they are having a PJ party of daring each other to get out of bed. Of course I have 2 of them who are out before the rooster every day.

    Bet that hurt!!!

I’ve had some unusual eggs (water balloon-like with no hard shell, hard wrinkly shells, lop-sided, sand paper-y shells, etc.) but yours takes the cake for “most unusual”! Kudos!
