Garden Diary 6/17/11

This week has been nice with temps in the high 60s to low 80s and occasional storms. Today was sunny and 82°F.

The first of the daylillies has begun blooming.

These are a type of Shasta Daisy called Crazy Daisy

This is a type of Purple Coneflower called Razzmatazz. It has a purple pom-pom on top.

Yuck to the yucca. My husband has hacked this plant out with an axe several times. It comes back bigger and stronger each time. Now it's giving birth to yucklets in my flower garden.

Hosta

Where I like to sit and read on nice days.

The lilac is blooming again....wait that's a rose blooming in the lilac! We removed that rose about 6 years ago, then planted the lilac. We removed it because it was diseased and straggling. Turns out if you chop it, ignore it, bury it in another plant that it blooms just beautifully!

Just so cheerful-- So long!

But-but-but…The yucca has such a lovely scent…but I do understand. I tried digging one out –went a foot and half deep too!–and I thought I had, but sure enough I must have missed some roots and it’s back! Love the Lilac-rose or is that Rose-lilac? 🙂

Who is the ham next to the Lilac-Rose?

Love your reading spot. And I love visiting you to see all the flowers without the 10 hour travel. But “I’ll be back!”
